Atlanta Streets Alive Roars Back to Life

After a four-year hiatus, Atlanta's beloved open-streets program, Atlanta Streets Alive, made a triumphant return on a sunny September day. Thousands of enthusiastic participants flooded Peachtree Street, transforming it into a car-free haven for pedestrians, cyclists, skaters, and various other Atlantans. This iconic event, covering 2.8 miles from Underground Atlanta to Midtown's 15th Street, has always been a crowd-puller, often drawing over 100,000 attendees.

Atlanta Streets Alive, originally inspired by ciclovía events in Bogotá, Colombia, started modestly in 2010 on Edgewood Avenue, inviting everyone except drivers to join in. Over the next decade, the event expanded, hosting 29 occasions and spanning an impressive 83 miles of city streets, attracting an estimated total of 1.7 million participants.
