Grant Park Summer Shade Festival is a 2-day elebration of art, music, and food in Grant Park. You can explore the works of local artists, enjoy live music from different genres, and taste various dishes and drinks from food vendors.
The festival is not only a fun way to spend your weekend, but also a meaningful way to support the Grant Park Conservancy1, a nonprofit organization that works to preserve, restore, and beautify the park.
Explore the Works of Local Artists
The festival features an Artist Market where you can browse and buy original artworks from over 200 local artists. You can find paintings, sculptures, jewelry, pottery, photography, and more. Whether you are looking for a gift, a souvenir, or a new addition to your collection, you are sure to find something that suits your taste and budget.
Enjoy Live Music from Different Genres
The festival also offers two stages of live music performances throughout the weekend. You can listen to a variety of genres, including rock, blues, folk, jazz, and soul. Some of the artists that will grace the stage this year are The Soul Rebels, Michelle Malone, Ruby Velle & The Soulphonics, and Blair Crimmins & The Hookers. You can check out the full lineup and schedule on the festival’s website.

Taste Various Dishes and Drinks from Food Vendors
No festival is complete without some delicious food and drinks. The festival has a Food Court where you can sample different cuisines from local restaurants and food trucks. You can also quench your thirst with a variety of beverages, including beer, wine, soda, and water. If you are feeling adventurous, you can try the SweetWater Brewing Company’s special brew for the festival, called Shade Tree IPA.
Support the Grant Park Conservancy
The best part about the festival is that it is not only a fun way to spend your weekend, but also a meaningful way to support the Grant Park Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that works to preserve, restore, and beautify the park. The festival is the conservancy’s largest annual fundraiser, and all proceeds go towards maintaining and improving the park’s amenities, such as playgrounds, trails, gardens, and historical monuments.
