Atlanta Streets Alive Returns: A Vibrant Resurrection After Four-Year Hiatus
After a four-year hiatus, Atlanta Streets Alive, the city's signature open-streets program, is set to return on Sunday, September 17. The event will open a three-mile stretch of Peachtree Street in downtown and Midtown to pedestrians and close it to vehicle traffic.
The return of the cherished tradition, which once drew around 1.7 million attendees over a decade, has been highly anticipated and will feature a series of car-free events funded by $200,000 from the city's budget. While the routes for the upcoming events have not been disclosed yet, the program aims to engage Atlanta residents and volunteers to help bring the event back to life.
