Southern National: A Culinary Journey Across the South and Beyond
Where: 72 Georgia Ave SE, Atlanta, GA 30312
Southern National recently opened in the historic Summerhill neighborhood, is the brainchild of chef Duane Nutter and Reggie Washington, who have returned to Atlanta after a successful stint in Mobile, Alabama.
Southern National is not your typical Southern restaurant. Nutter draws inspiration from his diverse culinary background and infuses his dishes with unexpected twists. For example, you can enjoy mussels and collard greens, a dish that was a hit at their Mobile location, or try the herb butter broiled red fish, served with smoked turkey smothered green beans and field peas. If you are feeling adventurous, you can also order the Creole-cured salmon and potato blini, a nod to Nutter’s French heritage.
Southern National is more than just a restaurant. It is a celebration of the South and its rich and diverse culture. It is also a testament to the friendship and partnership of Nutter and Washington, who have been working together for over a decade, starting at One Flew South at the Atlanta airport. They have brought their passion, talent, and vision to Summerhill, and they invite you to join them on their culinary journey. Reservations are encouraged, so book your table today and get ready to experience Southern National.
